Craftmanship

When crafting hand-knotted rugs, each yarn is tied by hand around vertical warp threads, creating a dense and resilient pile. This process is labor-intensive and time-consuming, requiring exceptional precision and artistry. Once the knotting is complete, the rug is expertly trimmed, washed to enhance its luster, and thoroughly checked for any imperfections.

Both hand-tufted and hand-knotted bespoke rugs undergo a final finishing process to secure edges, add any desired backing for stability, and perform a detailed quality check before being carefully packaged and delivered to adorn the luxurious spaces they are destined for.

At The Luxury Rug Company, we take pride in our craftsmanship and attention to detail when it comes to creating our handmade rugs. One crucial step in the process is dyeing the yarn that will eventually be woven into beautiful designs. Our experienced artisans carefully select the finest quality yarns and use specially curated dyes to achieve the perfect colours that meet our high standards of luxury. By dyeing the yarn in-house, we ensure that each strand is imbued with rich, vibrant hues that will enhance the overall beauty and quality of the finished rug. This meticulous approach is just one of the many ways we uphold our commitment to creating exceptional handmade rugs for our discerning clients.

When creating hand-tufted or hand-knotted bespoke rugs, the process begins with selecting the finest quality yarns such as wool, silk, or a blend of fibers chosen for their luxurious texture and durability. Skilled artisans then meticulously hand-tuft or hand-knot the yarn onto a specially prepared backing, following the intricate design provided by the client or our in-house design team.

For hand-tufted rugs, the artisan uses a tufting gun to punch the yarn through the backing material, creating a plush pile. The rug is then carefully sheared to the desired pile height, carved if necessary to add dimension, and meticulously inspected to ensure quality craftsmanship.
